Hey there, ive been given a Mk3 astra 1.8, i do believe its a x18xe ecotec. Im going to swap the engine into my Nova. so i was just wondering Is there anything else i can take off the car? ive been given the whole car, just wondering if there was anything else that can be used, like hubs or brakes etc. All helps appreciated :)
basically, it fits like a redtop.. so you need the xe mounts & astra mk2 diesel inner cv's for 22 spline shafts etc..
its hardly a performance engine though

115 hp & 45kg more weight... it really isn't much better performance than a std 1600 efi & you'll pay several hundreds for the fitting kit & beefed up suspension...
bargain???? hardly

I had a mk Astra 1.8 16v sport, and it was pretty rapid. I'm sure it was more than 115bhp, but cant remember the exact figure. I did 0-60 in 8.0 sec (timed) with a K&N fitted, and the car weighs a LOT more than a Nova. It also did 133mph. So I reckon it'll make a decent performance gain!

but the astras had really tall 1st & 2nd gears so that the 0-60 time was low, when people still thought 0-60 was actually relevant
They are actually really good engines. You will need the key and transponder too don't forget. If it was me, I would get the flywheel and clutch combo to fit the f15 so you can run the small block shafts. The box will be more than up to the job too.
Thought the mk3 astra's had c18xe?
In which case its hardly a waste of time at all
i think it depends on whether its a v grille version or not.. the early ones were c18xe, the later were ecotec
If thats the case then redtop fitting gear for early c18xe and if its an x18xe then they go on nova mounts
x18xe is a big block too.. x18xe1 is the 1.8 smallblock, as fitted in the later vectra b,
