View Full Version : 1.6 ecotec cam cover needed

i have bought a corsa with a bit of a mongrel motor..

it should be an x16xe, but the head has bolt holes around the outside edge & doesn't use the cam journal cap bolt holes..

so i now need a new cam cover

i think it should look like this:

this cover is for an astra mk4 1.6 16v...

It should have flat tops mike, not curved. That pic is of a x16xel one iirc (coil pack over plugs) you should have threads in the cam journals.

I have a cam cover I could sell. But its not the one as pictured. Its the other type which you get on the x16xe x14xe and c16xe. Pm me if interested.

i used the pic as an example of the bolt pattern on the sides of the head.

i have the std x16xe rocker cover with the 8 bolts on the cam journals, but if i fit it, it will piss oil out all over the place.

They are only bolted on with the 10 Bolts as standard on the x16xe... Why would it piss oil out on your engine as the head is same shape it just has few extra bolt holes?

I'm interested in the solution as I've just bought an astra 1600 16v engine to replace my x16xe.

there are 6 threaded holes on the sides, and if you offer the 'proper' cover up, it will piss oil out of them.. i might get some grub screws & loctite them in, but there's no total guarantee that one won't chatter out.
