is there any good reason i shouldn't bolt my seats down by drilling straight thru the floor pan then welding in some spacers to help strengthen it?

i dont think welding some spacers will be enough. Floor is just too thin; the seat will flex too much , floor gives a bit. Best using sills/sides. Where its thicker guage.

I have fitted bucket seats to gte/sr/gsi subframes
No chance with poverty spec seat subframes tho

really so its possible! dont supose you have some photos to help out do you?
I will look for some mate, possibly
Basically if you had the gte/sr subframes and seats you would see what to do
I used some flat steel, 50mm by 4mm with holes lined up for the seats with the steel laying flat across the tops of the subframes

i thought i was being really dim when looking at my old seats frames and for the life of me couldn't work out how to do it, didn't realize the frames would be that different to each other

Pov seat frames don't unbolt like most other vauxhall's do
Totally different mate, skip the poverty spec ones lol
I'm going to be fitting buckets to the Sport soon using the method I used before

Seat bars should have spreader plates fitted at either end of the tube/box

Most kits come with the plates but you can make your own. It's worth keeping in mind that the exhaust tunnel and inner sills are not a particularly thick guage of steel ;)

As said above, if you're boxing it or using tube, you need to weld to speedster plates.
I find bolting buckets to standard frames, means you sit far too high. Higher than with standard seats. I guess it's ok if you're little.

I'm 6'1". I just found yourself sitting on the wheel, and my head was pretty high up. If you box it, it's all taylor made to you and the position you want. I have mine quite low, and lowered the steering column. If you fit side mount seats rather than mounting from below seats, you get added height and tilt adjustment.
