View Full Version : Testing an XE low oil level sensor
Any idea's how I can test my low oil level sensor on my XE? I can/have loosely wired it up, but I don't know if its working as the light should only come on when the oil level is low, which mine isn't!

perfect excuse to change the oil imo, drain it out slowly until the light comes on
erm... wire it up to a multimeter set on ohms, put some oil in a container & lower the sensor into it???
Drop oil and refill. Or if its anything like mine take it for a nice Sunday drive for a few hours to use a litre
lol - suppose I could just drop it and chuck it back in...
and....
lol
The oil's not that old tbh...

Are you sure its not a low oil pressure light? how does it work if its not ?
The sensor on the front of the sump is low oil level light. It works by checking the level of the oil. To see if it's low. Then using a light.
