differences between GTE and GSI engines

i want to run a 1.6 8v on carbs, some body mentioned i want the gte engine not the gsi,

they look the same to me or am i being stupid

Same apart from v.late gsi's which had a slightly different engine.

if you are planning to run on carbs, then an engine with a dizzy would be better than a later dispak one, simply cos it will be less hassle to get a spark.
