Really nice mate, its good you have all the pics from when it was ate and then being re built
Iain
If it was originally silk violet I could live with the colour, but to reprint a black gsi in metallic pink is just wrong! Lol

Interesting approach to have totally plated over the box sections on the floor covering the drainage holes. Wish I had totally stripped mine and put it on a spit, looks so much easier than lying under the car on axle stands.
I'm happy with it apart from the few mechanical faults,
hardly pink Will (maybe you were the person at school that coloured in Santa with a brown pen)lol

Don't think they're drainage holes mate.
Nice build, reminds me of mine(minus the spit), fook doing that again! don't beat yourself up over the small issues, they are small at the end of the day!

Exactly as this man said, its a stunning car and once youve sorted the niggly small bits out then youll have a properly sorted nova, i for one think its awesome :thumb:

does the sunroof drainage pipes not drain into them box sections though?
imo it would look better if you loose the front splitter and put the sideskirts back to stock grey colour

iirc the colour is slightly off being Silk Violet as when the previous owner got the paintmix it reacted with another colour that was left over :(
I hope you got some extra paint for touching up the Nova
Cheers I think it's a great wee toy
I'm on the hunt for grey skirts ATM
Yeah I do have a tin with some paint in it not looked in it tho hope it's not dried out

I think they are piped down the c pillar and out the floor behind the rear lights mate.
I agree about the splitter and skirts but if you like it, that's all that matters.
Got total vauxhall today to find this.

It is nice mate but I bought it like that so I can't take the credit
Got some brand new headlights for it now just waiting on the indicators, and have also got gutter trim
Looks really well finished and done very thoroughly! :thumb:
Can't help but think: 195/40 tyres, lower at the rear and plain mudflaps.
I'm on the hunt for 15" wheels ATM, I like the mud flaps, suspension may be getting changed at some point, but at the moment it's getting all tucked up in the garage for hibernation
Love it mate. Now that's a decent restoration job!
It's nice to see silk violet again too. That colour has become far too rare for my liking!
fantastic work on the car. cant believe what they done with the radio aerial though. ruins whats clearly been a labour of love for someone

That motor is well smart looks a really good build thread pal nice one
Officially off the road on a sorn from today pity it's not seen the light of day for 6 week (to much salt on the road up my way)
Got a few things to be done
1. Fit new headlights and indicators
2. Fit gutter trim
3.Get to the bottom of oil leak
4. Get skirts painted black??
5. Hopefully get some new suspension
ATM it has dehumidifier bags in it to stop the damp
Just looked through this thread, some serious work went into it. Looks fantastic, youve got a great wee Nova there and as folks have said the issues are small by comparison to whats been done. Hey its winter, time to get your stamp on it :thumb:

Murph I'm on the case at getting the skirts painted but would prefer to get a set that's not been painted,
a gsi badge would be nice but can't fine one anywhere which is a pain in the ****,

Do u know his real name? Always wanted to see if he still had it? As only knew him thro a friend of a friend
Stuart Fulcher, used to speak occasionaly on Bebo/MSN but no one uses either anymore, dont think i've seen him on Facebook.
When we were at college he worked for Mackie motors at the time.
I think it was a 'it'll never be for sale' scenario, might have changed over time.
Wee update pulled car out for a wash last week to discover my roof is reacted to the paint

I took car back home and washed the salt off

Weren't this the one that was up for sale for about 6k?
Imo massive mistake to change the colour, that's a none vauxhall colour, looks more like a bmw on Nissan colour.
Don't get me wrong I love silk violet as I use to have one, but it would of been better in original black, shame.
Nice car though.

That looks a good colour match, you much be happy with that? Did he keep the colour mix in a safe place for you??
I had a 1/4 tin left mate and it was more than enough got enough to paint up one side again next time I think I will just get a full respray with a off the shelf colour lol
The painter was superb tho he's a busy guy restoring old jags but he managed to fit me in :)
Got my spring from gaz 5 weeks later so I put them on Sunday and when for a hurl last night feels like a new car
