Is it bad that I cut the +ve to my ECU every time the car is turned off? Does the ECU learn a certain amount about what the engine needs when it's running?

Why do you do that lol? And no it shouldn't effect it as it re-learns it all pretty much straight away. Just seems odd why you would cut it everytime you stop the car :s

It shouldn't really matter as above, might just take a few seconds to adjust itself. I suppose mine is the same in a way, as i've got a battery kill switch/key which is removed when its locked in the garage, so no power to the ECU.

Why though?

You're not running a lambda, so nothing to learn. Might idle a touch funny for a bit but that's about it, that's all it can really monitor. I'm not even sure C20XE ecu's are that complex :p

OK cool, just a random thought that popped into my head as it was misfiring quite badly for a short period last night.

Same reason as Mazz, killswitch.

I think they might have taken "cut" a little too literally :p

Mines also an early XE with lambda though, seems to make no difference whether its left with the key in or out, an hour or 2 weeks!

Yeah bad wording on my part lol

If it would cause it any bother, then a year or so during build with zero powere wouldve shown issues up before now lol

Yeah not so much being left without power, but how long it takes to learn what the engine needs again, if any learning occurs

The base map on an oe ecu is never going be bad enough for the engine to be misfiring.

I don't believe in the whole learning thing. Xe run the same if powered all the time or left with no battrey...
