Well I thought it would never happen to me but some generous person in the lovely area of Bradford decided to steal my nova.
They didn't get very far cause I found it round the corner with the ignition on and the hazard button upside down.
What bothers me though is that if they knew the hazard button trick in the first place then why they felt the need to destroy my ignition barrel as well?
Also the broken window is rather annoying, what happened to professionalism and leaving minimal damage whilst stealing a car lol
To cut a long story short does anybody also have a full matching lock set with ignition barrel they may be willing to part with for a small fee?

i know its a absolute b**** but at least they broke your window and now bent your door like most of them do glass is much easyier to get hold of than a decent drivers door

but sorry to hear it got stolen but atleast you got it back

Yeah I suppose that's true, plus the ignition switch and barrel are easy enough to replace, it's just getting hold of the steering shroud that's a ball ache.

And thanks, I just hope it's the last time somebody tries to steal it.

Do you have any security on the car? I would get some if not, you don't want the same guy or his mates coming back for another go at an easy target.

I don't but I usually take the king lead with me, just the one time I forget it the car gets nicked.
And I'm going to be getting a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser soon so there are no repeats of last night.
Luckily I don't live in bradford so there's no risk of that but to be fair manchester isn't much better and the patched up window isn't exactly making it hard for and potential thieves round here.

The problem with taking the coil lead etc is that the potential thief doesn't know this untill they are already in the car. The stoplock wheel lock as linked above, or better yet one that covers the whole wheel, provide a good visual deterrent and are something you can get and put on right away.

Gutted to hear this mate, I hope you get the damage sorted soon
Mate, a good alarm and imobilizer is a good start also the visual deterants are also good, I have fitted a Removable boss to mine much better than a steering wheel cover or bar Imo

Fit the one way diodes to the hazard switch wiring while you're fitting the alarm, it stops the hazard switch trick from working.

Least you got it back dude, I'd highly recommend a snap off kit for your steering wheel, they can't drive it if it ain't got a steering wheel!!

if you do buy a steering wheel lock buy the one that covers the whole wheel, the other ones are usless, a hack saw will goe thru a steering wheel in a matter of seconds then they slide right out.

Caught someone trying to take mine a few months back and it has a disc lock and immobiliser he was just about to bend the door back! It makes me sick and angry! One reason why I'm considering not using my nova as a daily drive any more.
Hope u get the car sorted and get a disc lock on it at least.

Get some decent security for a start, with a visual deterrent, hell i'd even get one of these for £2, connected to a 12v switch!

they damaged your ignition because of your steering lock, get a nice big detterant, no point in doing something that they will only notice when they get in the car, they've already caused damage and could well set the car on fire to leave no evidence

If you want to sort out the hazard switch, my guide is in the articles section.

This is reason why my insurance is so high, where in Bradford was your car btw?

I'm about 15 miles away but still have a BD postcode which kills my insurance :(

I had 3 attempts at my nova being stolen in a year, one attempt was to cut the rear window rubber out to get in... the barstwards

Cheers for all the suggestions everyone, I think I'm going to have to go for a snap off boss and a decent alarm/immobiliser and get some big clifford stickers for the rear windows as a visual deterrent.

And it was on Factory Street about 10 minutes out of the town centre, the annoying thing is that I saw the car 10 minutes before it was stolen and there was literally nobody on the street, just bad luck I guess.
I don't get why people try stealing them, all they ever seem to do is drive them for a bit and abandon them, bunch of cunsts.

I took the door pins off permanently and steering wheel off every night and fitted cctv, my last nova didn't get broken into so I guess my plan worked
