astra bretone 1.8 16v running fault

hello i know its not a nova but its a vauxhall does any body know why a 1.8 16v astra bertone might cough and splutter going around corners its like theres a fuel shortage. the cars not mine but a friends said ad put a post on to see if any one ca help. ????

Id look at the egr, they can cause running issues, but that would show up more on startup and idle, could be a weak pump, perished or blocked fuel lines, how much fuel is there in the car and does it do it all the time or just sometimes?

there was a quarter of a tank in her like it seams to be doing it all the time won't see the lad till tomorrow but al ave a look at said issues then, just thought some one may have had similar problem but good points thanks spudly!! :) been through hull a few times alatly always keeping my eyes peeled for a little blue nova!! lol

Lol i was up in Filey the other week aswell, used to go there for holidays when i was little, its all changed now, and when the fook did it all turn into a one way system lol

Nah i knows where that is, cant say ive ever been there myself though, there are quite a few vaux lovers up the coast that way, my mate is the guy behind scarborough cruise and has a 200bhp v6 converted cav :d and he is in Bempton!

i think i know him is he called key i say know him i no him to say hello too :-) theres a few of us like but most my pals ave old fords mk3 escorts and such. i have to say tho this last week ave been losing hope with mine and been looking at mk4 escort vans and orions but think am sticking for now ave had all kind of plans for the nova so think i should get it done and keep it a while yet but the welders guna ave to come out :cry: my weldings not cleaver but am determined to to it all

Thats where i was lucky with mine, all welding work was already done on mine before i got it, which was damn handy as i can only blow holes in stuff with a welder :eek:

Not all of them have egr's.
The z18xe doesnt anyway.
Take the throttle body off and give that a clean up with carb cleaner,has he done a pedal test to flash up the codes?

i thought mine was good looked it when i bought it but i think with lowering it and throughing it around has pulled some dicks filleting away :mad: but its fixable :) just guna set me back on painting the car it cart be off road long as its used mon-fri by me and our lass
