Bottom bolt fell out of my alternator, ordered a new one and fitted it but found this big nut down the back of the inlet manifold?? Ive never seen it before and wondered if anyone knew if it could be off my engine,as you can see from the second pic next to my keys its quite a big bugger.its an e16se,dont really want to drive it till i know what it is.

is it not the nut you sometimes get with a new front wheel bearing?

Too small for that imo, but either way the threads are clean so it's never been on anything... so I wouldn't worry.

get a small piece of rope & tie it to the rear tow loop.... you'll start a new fashion.... hanging spares on a nova...lol

i agree with the others about it looking like a hub nut, but i've not played with a wheel bearing for literally decades.... my current nova has only done 17000 miles on its original ones !!!!!... so i'm going with the mechanic dropping it & saying sod it.... its too shiny to be important...

Remember a hub nut/drive shaft nut is 30mm, and that nut isnt. Thread looks too fine too. Be from something else non Vauxhall.

Looking again, it looks NOTHING like a hub nut.

Its doing my head in,where it has come from & the fact it probably isnt even from a vauxhall

I've stripped my Nova to almost a bare shell. I've never seen that bit before. So bin it and forget it.
