will the 8v sri top end fit on the x14xe bottom end?

it will fit, but the pistons might crash the valves.. as the 8v has 5mm deep pockets, but the 16v is more like a flat top.

so could i get away with fitting a decompression plate or is it not worth it

what is up with your 1.4sri bottom end??

the x14xe is based on the c14se engine, so swapping pistons over into the xe bottom end would make an 8v

well when i bought the nova it was bought as a project with half the engine missing so i bought a 1.4 tigra off my sister cheap and thought id put the x14xe in nova anyways after putting the x14xe engine into the nova and wiring it all up i have managed to leave the ecu in the tigra wen i scrapped it so plan was to put the 8v head on the x14xe block rather than hunt for another engine.

it would be way better if you sell the 1.4 8v bits either on here or on the bay, and then buy a new ecu set using the money you make.

yeh i have a few parts for sale on here and i was trying to keep the car as original as possible as it is a genuine sri and there hard to come across especially for the 250 quid i paid lol

head will bolt on and work without using decompression plate etc just use and 8v head gasket. its commonly used in stock cars

its a limiting factor.. as the 16v head flows way better than the 8v.
