i need loads of etch primer, high builder primer, paint (for engine bay gun metal grey), underseal (recomend me something good for the inner wings :d) and all the sand paper and other bits and bobs to get a half decent finish
where is a good place to buy all this gear, anywhere near derby would be good, but also dont mind buying off the internet if its cheap
i dont have a compressor or spray gun so it will be done in rattle cans for the time being
cheers :thumb:

A man of your experience and traveling of probably Derby that's a pretty crap reply, he's wanting preference/personal experience off a forum...
i have been to derby about 6 times in the last year or so....3 times delivering bricks, and 1 time to collect some bits, and twice to tj's house..
decent bodyshop supplies places aren't into rattle cans that much, general motor factors might be, its usually a case of ringing round to see who has decent stock. the sort of motor factors that sells a lot of car panels is the sort of factors that stocks what tj is after..

What do you mean by "proper stuff" and what exactly are you looking for if not proper stuff?
I have always used paints4u. http://www.paints4u.com/ Reasonable prices, quick delivery and a wide range of stuff. If you need any advice call them and tell them the kind of thing you are looking to do and they will advise on the best stuff for you.

Yeah paints4u will be able to sort you out. The cans they do offer some really good out of the can finishes and it's pretty difficult to get it to run. I've done bumpers, grills, wheels, roll cage, mirrors all using there stuff. Goes on nice out of the can and drys pretty quick. If I could I would paint the whole car using the sprays they supply!:thumb:

If your painting the whole car, get a compressor. You'd go though a LOT of rattle cans, the extra money you'd spend on rattle cans over tins of paint would get you a compressor. Compressors can be bought cheaply off ebay, you can get them half the price of shops like Machine Mart for exactly the same compressor just badged up differently.

i only need to paint the engine bay matey
Paintshop supplies in Nottingham. Recently bought some 2pack from there and it was cheaper from them than paying postage on the cheapest stuff on eBay, and cheaper than Paints4u too I think. Also good after-service and were polite in helping me with mixing quantities on the phone.
