View Full Version : Hand brake cable touching rear spring
Upon fitting my new wheels I can now see that the handbrake cable is touching the coil of the spring, I'm not sure how much of a problem it is but doesn't look good, the car has rear discs and still runs shock and spring set up, anybody else had this problem?
don't you have to use a short cable off a cav mk3???
Mine always touched. Never did any damage. Passed the mot ok, but i thought it would fail.
You'd have to weld on a bit to the beam to hold it away from thhe spring.
Mog, Cav mk2. But they all do it.
When I first fitted mine, the back would lock up when I went over bumps! lol
Like Ben says, you need to wend a guide/tag onto the beam to re-direct the cable...
Thanks folks that is what I suspected, as a temporary bodge I've fitted some rear springs with less coils so it passes through the spring
I never had any probs with it tho.
I have had to notch the chassis leg tho for the cable to run thru.. lol
