hi all,
ive just seen this comment on an old thread '

check ignition timing, setting that right makes a hell of a lot of differance. '

i was just wondering how do you change your ignition timing on an E16SE or check that it is correct?

You need a timing strobe. Basic ignition timing is 10deg btdc iirc. It's adjusted my moving the dizzy.

then you need to back it off slightly for unleaded fuel.

on an e16se, you need to have it running warm with the throttle switch disconnected and 2 small wires connecting all the plug terminals together (its in haynes), so it runs at the 'default' tickover. then adjust it. remember, the same trigger that works the ignition timing also works the injection on this engine, so don't try massive alterations or it will simply stop.
