My Inner CV's stuck in the diff  ...tried everything from a crowbar to a gear puller but to no avail....any other ideas before I cut the diff out of the casing with an angle grinder? Its an LSD btw so I can't use a drift from the other side

i know that felling! but have patience, is the drive shaft still connected to both cvs? if so did you try pulling the ****e out of the hub with the bottom ball joint undone? that usually works for me if not then keep at it with the crowbar and it should pop

yea, tried that. the inner cv is now broken as a result lol. The annoying part is I changed it last weekend at the side of the A44 in about 10 mins, now at home its being stubborn. I think the shaft I put in was slightly corroded so could be the reason for the problem.

Had this recently too! I think one came out with using the shaft as a slide hammer, and the other ripped the CV inners out and eventually came out with a big pry bar on the floor. Just keep beating it lol

Can you hammer the bar between the box casing and the stepped bit of the CV?

Yeah that's how we did mine, big screwdriver between and a few whacks sorted it : )

Get the crowbar as far in as it'll go then whack the other end with the biggest hammer around / you can lift.

can you get a drift in thru the diff from the other side?

no, he's running LSD.

I'd suggest continuig with what your doing amd putting a bar somewhere you can lever it against the CV joint and shocking it

Just had 3 of us looking at it, prying it, hitting it etc and no progress, something must have gone very wrong in there. Think i may cut it out tomorrow. can then take the diff apart, remove the circlip and hit it from the other side. How does that sound? Thanks for the comments and suggestions so far ;)

Yeah doesn't seem to make sense somehow. I'd be really surprised if the spines have twisted before the shaft itself snapped.

yea, i'd be surprised too, its only a 1.6

After taking the diff apart I am now left with the CV stuck in the side gear of the diff

There is a small amount of play between the side gear and the CV so it must be stuck on the circlip. I've tried pretty hard with a big hammer and no movement, next job is to find someone with access to a press
