i listed my bike on ebay and somebody has come up with an offer and payed via paypal. i have removed the listing from ebay and the guy has sent me xxx amount via paypal as he is travelling up from london to collect it on train and does not want to carry the cash with him. iv checked my paypal and it says:

gross amount £x00
fees £27.60
net amount £x72.40

so i am £27.60 down

this was not payed through ebay, only paypal

i cant withdraw the money from my account and it says payment review next to the payment. iv spoken to spud and hes has said its an e-cheque and not to give him the bike till it clears(obviously). does anybody have any idea how long it usually takes?

why has paypal charged me with the fees and how long could it take

Funk that, cancel the payment and get him to pay with cash. Its not like he would need a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist to carry the vast sum of £100, so whats the problem with just paying cash? Sounds like a scammer.

Its not 100 quid with 27 quids worth of fees ha ha. Yeah cancel and ask for cash or take the hit tbh. You get charged fees for all non gift payments but it allows you to dispute and rectify problems.

Fees are only 3.4% plus 20P so there is defo something majorly wrong there...

So why the extra fees?

My guess would be an invoice for ebay fees (i.e a months listings etc) that he just suckered the guy into paying lol

He didn't disclose the price in which the bike sold for so it could be £200, £300, £400 etc.

Ah yes, I understand it now, it sold for £806....I was confused when someone mentioned the £100.
