Not hard at all. Only unbolting a few bits.

its dead easy with a haynes book & some reasonable tools. change the cambelt at the same time.

the only problem comes if the pump is stuck in, dues to age/corrosion/sealant. so it might take a little roughness to get it out, then you need to clean up the surfaces before fitting the new pump.

this job is a cash cow for garages, so they will want about £200 for doing it, and try to tell you about cambelt kits with tensioners etc.. on the gte, the pump is the cambelt tensioner,
you can get the bits for about £40.

you'll need spanners, sockets, allen keys, a hammer, and a big spanner or grip to tension the belt back up. Oh & somewhere to drain the coolant & some new antifreeze.

from what i recall you use the waterpump as the cambelt tensioner and its 3 bolts for the waterpump?

Yes^

Before you fit the new pump, grease the mounting surface where the rubber ring is, will help stop it sticking.

I used a bit of wood and a hammer to remove mine years ago, hitting it down wards from the top of the bay...

If it doesnt spin smoothly or makes any noise, then change it.

Another tip if the old pump is stuck in there is take the hose off the back of the block and then put a bar in through that hole and smash the pump out from the inside of it.

Sometimes,as i found,it can go horribly wrong if its stuck...
Now bear in mind this was with the engine out so it was a bit easier, still took an hour to achieve this....

I removed a relatively well stuck one from a 106 JP4 block once and it smacked me square in the bollocks as it popped out :(
