Yes,the torque in any gear is surprising mate, ive liked them for a while and heard a lot of good stuff about reliability as well,i reckon it would shock a few motors costing a lot more

Epic engines - reliability, economy and TORRRRQUE!

Mate has one with 250 bhp and about 700 lb/ft its brilliant!

I had one a few years back, hybrid turbo, FMIC etc, was around 220ish bhp. Loved it, only problem I had with it was that it was a bit on the small side, and the white seats were a nightmare to keep clean!

Now have a Toledo TDi 150 with the same mods, and still getting 50mpg.

Ive heard the standard turbo can struggle after a remap & sometimes chucks it

Realistically talking, what are these like on MPG front?

Ive got a Corsa C CDTi SRi & ever since Ive owned it its struggled to get anywhere over 30mpg :/ Thats doing anything upto 1000 miles a week of virtually all motorway driving. Ive done a shade over 23k miles in it now since December & the MPG has always been tripe.

I looked at these VRS TDi's back in December but a clean one at the time was outta my price range :/ so opted for the shonky C intead.

Then there is something up with the engine! lol You should be getting high 40s in one of those if uits mostly motorway...

I have the 1.9 PD engine (same as the VRS) in my Audi and I get over 50 average - 60 ish on a cruise.

It's probably clogged the inlet up with EGR ****e, I saw an astravan at 30 odd k, pampered with servicing etc and that was about 7mm thick on both sides of all the intake piping, so I dread to think what yours is like after 130 odd or whatever you've got it up to now.
