Looking at replacing my daily and a perfect car has come up. However it has done 180k miles.

It is a 2003 320d BMW with full service history. I am fully aware of swirl flap and turbo issues but does anybody have experience with these, especially at this sort of mileage??

Just run in at that milage lol

Seriously though my dad has an omega with the 2.5 BMW engine and that's done 230k and still runs like a dream, Depends how long you want it though and how much milage you do, also expect a few repairs along the way and being a BMW parts won't be the cheapest

If its been serviced properly and youre not worried about resale value, I really wouldnt worry...

The swirl flap issue would have been sorted/deleted at that mileage - they tend to fall off around 100k lol

Make sure its had a clutch, as they tend to go around 160k ish

As long as its cheap, been looked after, not messed with and it's tidy it wouldn't bother me.

tbh I'd buy a 150K car, but not a 180K car... I trust its ******* cheap?

Bmw's go on forever! My brother once had an e36 328i, chipped and tuned, kept up with m3's and that had done 248,000 miles! That's some going outa a petrol

It does seem cheap, it is a 2003 facelift 320d sport tourer. Genuine sport which is quite rare for a 320d. 180k miles with full service history, it is purple again a rare option.

£2490 from a dealer so wil have a 3 month warranty.

Not sure on swirl flaps, turbo or clutch. Would expect it to have had the swirl flaps removed and a clutch and a turbo exchange. But need to call the dealer to establish if full history is just the service stamps or all the maintenace records as well.

I am coming to the conclusion to just be a bit more patient and wait for another to come up with less miles. Must be a facelift 320d tourer genuine sport though.

That's about 1000 more than I'd like to pay lol . I'd take a chance on 180k if it was a bargain, but although it's maybe worth that, id hold out for something better IMO .

Edit:-

In fact, scrap my original opinions. I don't believe modern cars are good for stupidly high miles like 90's bmws and 80's mercs. At 180k when that starts needing money spent on it on mechanicals and body work, you'd already be £2500 deep in it, and unable to get your money back, meaning it has to be fixed, and in a few years time your stuck with something on intergalactic miles which stands yous a fortune and worth fcuk all. All in my new opinion of course.

It is a fair price for the car and spec to be honest. However I am not restricted by budget but trying to find the correct spec car.

Going to give this one a miss. Another, better suited one with lower miles will come along!

I was looking for AGES for a 320d Sport tourer, a few popped up, but the best I could find was 120k 2002, facelift, but 5 speed dor £3750 and that sold...

I was being fussy though and only wanted a sport or a really late (2004+) SE that has sport options.

That price is pretty good, esp from a dealer - there were a few over 200k for that money when I was looking in Feb/March

A friend who lives in Bristol is thinking of selling his 320d M sport touring. It's in a nice metallic blue. Its a late one, but cant remember the reg.

Can ask for info if you're interested?!

I would be interested if an e46 and a manual. Looking for 03 to 04 plate due to cost.

Looks like it might be a bit too new for you... Its a 56 plate E91 320d Msport 115k. It'll be up for sale in October.
