Is this too close to the shoulder/wall to be repaired?
I've not pulled the nail out as I need to limp her to a tyre place lol

Tricky to tell but from the pic it doesnt look like a new tyre? I had a puncture 20 miles into a brand new tyre once, that was a real s**t day!!!

They seem about half worn. And they are 'only' £100 lol

Ive had them fixed closer to the sidewall than that in the past but i use a Plant tyre firm to repair mine, when ever i have a puncture on my van, my forklift suddenly develops a slow puncture and i get my van tyre sorted on the works bill lol whoops

by rights its a dangerous spot to repair, but if it was on something we don't use on highway, like the quad trailer, we'd fix it with a mushroom patch..
and then we chase down the road at 50mph with it to feed the sheep lol lol

We have a gauge at work, anything in The affected area is a no-no. If i fixed it, and it failed, i would find myself liable.

I'm going to buck the trend here by saying I'd probably be happy to repair that, on the grounds that the main injury is at 90 degrees to the tread, and by the looks of things (obviously hard to judge from a pic) the flat internal portion of the patch would only wrap up the side of the carcass by a few mm. But having said that, how big is the screw? you'd probably even get away with a 4mm micro patch which may be entirely on the tread area. Don't write it off until someones actually looked at it from inside

^ disagree completely that close to the sidewall is a dangerous repair and in no way would i do it as i couldnt live with my self if it failed and although as stuart said £100 for another tyre yes they are expensive but cheaper than the price of a life IMO shoot me down if you like but ill stick to what ive just said

Opting for a new tyre now.

Sods law it would be near the edge.
