Need to shift a load of corroded/peeling lacquer off a set of wheels? Anything in particular I should use apart from elbow grease and sandpaper? A quick google for nitromors says it shouldn't be used on alloys, yet lots of people do? Opinions? :)

Media/shot blasting would be best

Had thought of that wee tool but then I'd need a compressor etc, which I haven't the money for! Don't want to get them blasted , if I can't tidy them up cheap I'll have to wait a month er 2 and get them done professionally.

You could try Poly carbide drill attachment, I've recently discovered using them myself and they work really well.
Ebay example - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silverline-100mm-Polycarbide-Abrasive-Disc-Wheel-Brush-6mm-shank-rust-paint-/400312063455?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item5d347555df

The drill mounted ones are not that good, the grinder mounted versions are better but they are still difficult to get into corners etc

One of those could be the job. The lacquer is really flakey so shouldn't put up much of a fight. The wheels have a nice open face to them so should be relatively simple to clean up.

I was trying to get the paint of my rocker cover, I tried nitro mors which wouldn't touch it no mater how many times I used it so I was going to give up and get it acid dipped but I thought I'll give it one last go my self as I'd seen it done with paint stripper before so I bought some of this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POR-15-Por-Strip-Paint-Remover-Stripper-946ml-US-Quart-C225-/160852257566?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3 D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D1314559922191638711%26pid%3 D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26#ht_636wt_689

From frost auto restoration it is tremendous stuff it is spray on Then leave it for a few minutes and the paint starts to bubble up no problem. They supply 3 heads for the trigger bottle I soon realised why because once the stuff has been used in the head it won't work again next tim lol.

Will check it out bubba, is it likely to be available in shops? I'm off tomorrow so I'd like to make a start then. If I can't get anything local I'll have to buy online and hope its here at the weekend.
