My bonnet is fibreglass painted, you can see it's fibreglass as it's quite wavy but the finish is just as smooth as the metal panels.

I just painted fibreglass wings, no pictures of them on the car yet though. I gave mine a good coating of acid etch primer before using a high build primer, with a good coverage of both the higher number of imperfections over steel wings got nicely filled. Then the colour coat went on as normal, you wouldn't know they were fibrglass by looking at them know.

Bonnet and boot are both fiberglass...

You can't tell by looking, most people don't spot they are fiberglass.

This is the only downside if you get the wrong bonnet.

I painted mine with 2k to allow for a bit of flex.

Downside for fibreglass panels is how you can attach them to the car, tailgates and bonnets can't really use the original catches as you'll end up cracking them. People attach them with bonnet pins usually, which is fine if its a track car. Not sure how you'd go about attaching fibreglass doors, think I'd prefer lightened steel ones or carbon fibre would be cool.

Hey frodo you could just bond some ally box across the underside to stop it looking like an abused indian child.

A wet lay carbon panel would weight the same as a GRP equivalent :thumb:. But cost about three times as much.
