Starting problems

Hello my girlfriend has a mk4 astra 1.6 sxi (x16xel) and everytime you start it ,it starts fine for about 5 seconds then cuts out and will keep doing it unless you rev it when its about to cut out any ideas what this could be ?? Thanks matt

sounds like it simply needs plugging in at a garage & readjusting properly.

Check that the cam timing is right. When my bottom pulley slipped on the key it did this. Could also be a duff the crank pos sensor. check the ign timing with a strobe.

best bet it throttle body idle control etc..
either use a cloth covered in carb cleaner and wipe the inside of the throttle body
or take it off all together and clean it
