I just spotted a white GTE near Driffield showground about an hour ago, gave them a flash and a wave, and got a wave back :d

Looked standard apart from a pair of cibie type lamps on the front, anyone know of it (and no i didnt get a pic as i was going the other way) got all giddy and excited when i spotted another nova lol

One of my mates bought it around 2008 as a non runner or £150, new dizzy, sold again for £500, then it did a couple of shows and then sat in that garage since then. Owned by a bloke called Karl.

the red nova is not far from me, i live about 10 mins in other direction, he a window cleaner he has had it for a few years now, there a couple in hastings, a tatty white 3 door, and couple of 4 door saloon, and my mate in bexhill has a green let, he used to work at the kwick fit just at end of the dual carriage way but he got transfered to eastbourne, i have another mate that still works there with a black mk3 astra gsi though. what do u do for a job? u seem to do lots of travelling. lol

I know, I went to see it. He payed 350 3 years ago. Then apparently he got offered a grand for it but turned the guy down, so now he thinks he's sitting on a golden egg. It need doors and wings and the sills and front panel have started to bubble. Needs a mirror, tail light and both grab handles. I offered him 250 for it. lol

But they're not bangers, they are rods. The Gte looking one looks like its been racing for a while, judging by the amount of dents that have been pushed out, plus the fact the wide arch kit has started to rust. Good old nova's lol

they are hotrods, basically the same as banger racing but your not allowed to purposely make contact, that's why the engine is tuned and bodywork is fabricated to be lighter etc, the blue one looks to be a higher class than the red one though.

The cav is being used for banger racing, rules dictate that you have to have a minimum 10MM thick steel plate covering the door, although i would imagine it isn't the banger racing where people just crash into each other all the time since the builder would have thought to take the bumpers etc off

As said, Rods are not built to take hits like bangers, they are built for speed. Alot of fabrication goes into them so they don't want to smash them up at the first meet.

I do autograss, in no way is it banger racing! often rotten cars are given a new lease of life...! The amount of effort people put into there cars you can't call it banger racing, i didn't realise people spent up to twenty grand on bangers? and that banger racing was actually a non contact sport like autograss... yes sometimes people crash or break there cars but the same happens in f1 and pretty much any other motorsport.

Was having a strole around Porthleven today with the missus and on the way back down the village she shouted 'Oooh a Nova look!' pointing to a Jamaica yellow more door coming up the hill. Now we have been together 13 years and she has/had a hatred of Nova's most of that time. But, I am now slowly converting her to the way of the Nova, first she won't let me sell the Swing claiming it is hers and wanting to drive it at any opportunity and now she is pointing out Nova's to me :). She even pointed one out for sale in the local rag recently and said she was going to buy it!
Anyway I had a walk back up to see the old boy going into the newsagent but by the time I got close he had hopped back in the car with his paper. Just managed to get a quick pic before he drove off, looked very tidy. If he had been 5 minutes earlier he would have bumped into us on the way out of the newsagent and I could have spoken to him.

I saw that satin black hatch in Falmouth town centre when I was there in August time.

Could be a genuine Racing Puma as it got the correct seats, although you'd be utterly mad to repaint it as there worth about £6~8k in standard form.

Spud, there a 170bhp (IIRC?) N/A motor. Better suspension, brakes, obviously wide arch spec, interior is nice though, Ford Racing Sparco's an the like. Think they have a LSD box aswell.

EDIT: And there even more fun to drive then a standard Puma, which are incidently awesome for some B road bashing.

There are at least two or three round here that i know of Moike, ones spoilerless and looks really aggressive, never seen one in action, but ive had a nosey round the one my mate owned at the time, got it epic cheap as it had no t&t and needed a cambelt service, he owns a garage so this wasnt a problem, made a tidy profit when he shifted it on lol

I was tempted by a Puma Racing that got traded in at BMW some years back. It was a good price but unfortunately it looked as though it had been thrashed to death by the last owner so I left it. Looked at a WRX Type UK after that and was dissapointed when I drove it. Took it back on the Monday with the EML on:roll: Finished up with the 888 instead.

my boss has a mk1 escort 1300e, in black, and it's a 2dr.... there were 6 black 1300e's made, and four of them were moor door! he had it on the road when he passed his test, did a full bare metal resto 20 years ago, just after that it was lightly rear ended and subsequently has been parked on his drive since :O it's in a really bad way now, was trying to convince him to restore it the other week- or at least reshell as he owns a classic car Restoration company, but he says it's not worth it as he'd lose money doing it properly, as it'd never be worth that value :'(
