Hi there peeps i need a bit of advice i have nova 20xe conversion and i,m rebuilding it at the moment but i need to change the sump gasket and have heard i should change the baffle to a 8v type also would i need to change the gasket to the same type aswell... ??? ANY SUGGESTIONS would be greatfull as i,m a little unsure... :thumb:
Buy an 8v baffle plate and silicone seal it to the block and the sump,
They say use an 8v one cause the 16v comes with a ****ty one,

as said use 8v one there rubber not ****ty cork i have one not fitted i could show you what you need?
The 8v baffle has a bonded gasket to replace the two cork ones, so you'll be swapping to the baffle/gasket all in one.
You'll also need shorter bolts and while you're there check your sump for flatness and cracks around the bolt holes.

I did this conversion. I also went to the extra lengths of running a tap down all the holes and using some fine grit wet and dry on the sump pan and block faces. I didnt use any additional sealant. Did this a few months back. No leaks. Not even a weap! Chuffed.
Need to go careful using wet and dry on sealing faces, it's very very easy to take a few thou off of aluminium.
I actually skimmed a cylinder head once where I could tell the guy that took the head off was right handed and which way the head was facing when he went at it with the emery, as there was a great big low swipe straight across it lol
Best way to clean it up I find is isopropyl alcohol or similar, normally makes any gunk soft enough to wipe off eventually.

i'd use wet and dry, the tolerances you have to keep to for the sump are so great that if you messed it up you'd also more than likely get confused as to why you have to hold the sump in place while putting bolts in
