Not sure this is quite mechanical, but here goes!

The rubber gear stick gaitor had split entirely so I removed it and have managed to source a second hand replacement. However I can't work out how I can fit it without removing the gear knob; something I have tried to do without fail (trying not to damage it!).

Any suggestions welcomed.

Cheers.

Lift up the gaitor and you will see two 10mm head bolts. Undo these and the lever can then be removed.

Then you need to remove the knob by dipping it in boiled water. Remove old gaitor, fit new one and refit knob. Then bolt lever back in

The gear knob should just twist off the lever by hand, with a bit if effort (if I remember rightly)

you can fit it without taking the knob off but you will need to dismantle the gearstick assembly

A blast with a hair dryer will pobably make it easier to remove.

I find a twist and gentle pull off it comes..

Whats all this pansying around, just pull the knob hard (ooh-err) its got a textured end on the stick that grips the inside of the knob, its only an interferance fit so a right good tug will see it pop off :d
