I am trying to find replacement synchro part for F28 gearbox as I can't get second gear anymore, Santa pod finished it off!!
Am I right in understanding that a Mitsubishi 3000gt has the same 3rd-6th ?? And that a BMW m3 has the same as second gear??

Any advice would be apreciated
Thanks
Charlie

I think courtenay did 1st and 2nd gear for £500. The others are obscelete (sp)

I was recently told regal are one of the only companys left selling some of the syncros for the f28. How true it is Im unsure but deffo worth a call to them.

because its mentally expensive...

Its a £1000 mod for a VX220 which already has a cable shift box and hydraulic clutch lol

Ah right, my limited knowledge coming into play lol

What about a F23 then ? I was running 260bhp through one in my mk4 astra gsi with no probs, pretty sure alot of people run 300+ through them

the F23 is a fantastic gearbox, although does like to have a gearbox cooler fitted to prevent the plastic selector fingers from failing.
Again though, its a cable box with hydraulic clutch

what will people do when all the F28's are bust tho ? they will have to switch on to them then, surely use the same shafts ?

They dont use the same shafts as far as I'm aware... Someone will have to pull their finger out and do the research really.

Most 'modifiers' will only do upto what the last person did, so if no one has tried to get an M23 or F23 into a nova/astra that didnt have it in the first place then its wide open for someone. Saying that, what box did Gunny use?

In charlie's case he has to use the f28 because his car is a 4x4

F23 or M32 will need a lot of work to make it run in a Nova

Gunny used a F28

after all the research i did i think a F25 out of a vectra/calibra would be next best to a f28, although the gearing is crap from what ive read even then it doesnt have a speedo drive at all & the mounts are different as it was only ever fitted to V6's

Edd not sure if the transfer box
Will fit?

The f25s are tripe. Synchros are a weak point.

the getrag f28 box rights were sold to some swiss bloke who only sells whole recon boxes for huge money.

apparently, getrag did like to use some common components on their boxes, but then they didn't go out of their way to sell these bits on the aftermarket..

people have even bought 2wd f28 stuff from south african opel dealers in the past to fix the box..

steveboyslim has tried to get stuff in the past, and even bearings seem to be non standard for them.

ste porter is a mine of info for f28's too.

i was pondering the problem of a decent box to fit where the f28 did the other day when i was driving my vw 6 speed tdi, and wondering if it would fit or not, and it comes in 4wd too... i've heard of lots of people running huge power on vw turbo engines, but not really heard of the gearboxes failing, anyone heard owt??
