View Full Version : HELP! C20LET KNOCKING :s
:thumb:Hi guys, for a few months now my LET has had a knock coming from cylinder 1... at first it sounded like a lifter so 16 new lifters were fitted, STILL THE SAME :confused: its getting louder so today i pulled the pistons out and low and behold cylinder one has a new piston...... big ends are mint con etc the bore is sound and no markings on the crank. had a good look at the head and all seems fine! any help i would be very greatfull cheers :thumb:
And what about the mains?? did you check them??
no mate crank still in place, the new piston in cylinder 1 is **** and may as well have been made from chocolate lol.. no play in the little end but twice as much play left to right than the other 3
sorry its more top end than bottom
Whats the end float like?? in tolerance still?
It needs a strip down and measurements or its gonna be a very costly diagnosis just by changing bits and bobs
end float is 0.072 well with in the tolerance, as are the mains 0.018... the crank is fine, all the shells are the correct size etc just thinking is there to much play in the little end side to side???? cheers
what do you mean?
Big end=conrods
Mains=crank-block caps
End float=Crank play side to side as in pulley to fly movement???
What do you mean by "little end" side to side??
little end is the piston to conrod.. they have quite a bit of movement as standard

Yeah,i didnt know if he was confusing this with the mains,alot of people do sometimes.
As mowgli says,on the bench they have loads of movement
After re reading,your confident about the top end,have you tried a different set of injectors??
sorry to confuse every one its sorted now... yes changed injectors! having a new LET built going all steel so if any ones got a big turbo do let me know haha :)
