Did you cut the metal backing out of the dash?

i took out the silver bars, should i cut back sone of the black reinforcement metal so it will drop down further?
hope that makes sense
Yeah. I had to cut in a small section of the metal bracket that holds the steering column as well.

ok cheers jack i will have another hack tomorrow, i cut the securing tabs off the dash too, did you?
The tabs off the dials? Yep, lopped those off :)
IIRC (its been a while since I did it lol) I cut the black metal backing off the dashboard, a little off the steering column mount (to let the dials sit down/back enough), a small section out the cowling to allow you to see the top numbers on the speedo, and then some of the air ducting behind the dash (seal it up again with some duct tape!)
I can take some pics if you like, but the car is back at home so I won't be there til later in the week.
