I painted my bonnet metallic and a day later put three thin coats of lacquer but, there is a few tiny bits of misty patches (overspray I assume). Will lacquer t-cut to an even shine or will I have to live with it?

Hi Lacquer can be sanded, buffed and polished as its a surface coating :thumb:

Wet and dry is good at flatting back misty bits.

Thanks, I have never worked with it before but thought I should check before I start incase I make it worse, hopefully tomorrow, beautiful shine!

If its just like mist over spray, I'd use 2000 wet and dry then polish it up with some really good paste.

You can flat with a very fine wet & dry using plenty of water, minimum 1500 grit to flat out any imperfections then use a polishing compound likea Farecla G3 to get the finish.
Be VERY carfull with this as you can easily go through the laquer back to the base coat. If the misting is in the laquer then you will have problems and it may need repainting. On which coat of laquer did it appear?

the final coat, but all three coats are really thin, they are from upol rattle cans.

Be very careful as its thin coat's from a rattle can.

I was very careful and then put another very thin coat on. It's not perfect, here's a pic but, the picture makes it look better than it is. As it's on the track car I'll just live with it as it is for just now.

As you spray it a heavier coat is needed or you'll end up with a light dusty coat

Don't worry about runs mate. Obviously try your best not to make the paint run, but it's not the end of the world :) They can be rubbed out with a bit of care. Because it's thin coats from a can I would suggest a even finer grit wet and dry. Maybe 3000 and plenty of soapy water.

I'm by no means an expert just little things that I've learned from past mistakes lol
