Hello

Alot of you have probably already seen this asked quite alot

I've done the conversion in 1.2 carb model

Engine starts and dies after 2 seconds....

Still only has single tacho clocks no rev gauge and is using mechanical drive on box

do you have a c16xe 100% ? some people get confused about the x16xe easily .

Sounds like imobilizer thats why i ask.
Did you have fuel once the engine is running ?
Have you used the correct fuel pump ?

Yeah engine was bought from a mate who has a corsa gsi

I've got a pump that was a used on a c20xe conversion, going to be trying another pressure regulator tomorrow incase it's over fuelling it

And as far as I'm aware I'm getting fuel

if its over fuelling it wont cut out it will just cough and splutter but stay running.
I'd run a +ve to the pump to assure you have fuel constant whilst cranking / running.
You may have also wired the ign live wire to a wire that isnt live after cranking

I'll double check where I've put the ign live

I'll give the +ve to the pump ago like you say to assure I've got fuel

Hopefully sort it,

That by itself doesn't guarantee a C16, the later GSis had the X16 fitted.

as above most of the L plate gsi had the c16xe iirc

A quick check to see which engine you've got i.e C or X16xe is by the colours on the ECU.

If blue and red then you've the C16xe setup, if not then yours will be the X16xe setup.

Is that the plugs the clip into the ecu?

Both clips or just 1?

Both clips or just 1?

One clip is red and the other is blue if a C16xe, they will match to the ECU.

Damn 1 is red and 1 is white

How do I get round immobiliser then?

You'll need the chip and ignition transponder from the X16xe you got the engine from otherwise the ECU won't work.

Ok thanks and how would I go about wiring it in? As I have no plugs for it?

Without the proper wiring and transponder with the chip thats in the ignition key, then it's not going to run I'm afraid.

its not something you can just order, you need the originals from the car.

I can't just get another matching ecu, transponder and chip?

As long as they're all from the same setup then yes you can.

The ecu reads the chip in the igntition key though, do make sure you get all the matching parts.

Edit: make sure you don't get the setup from the X16xel though from a Tigra, Vectra or Astra as they have a cream and red ECU and won't fit your red and white wiring loom.
