is it possible to wire a gte loom in to a 1.2 spi loom me and my mate have tried everything but it still wont start i know the ECU is OK because i tried it on his nova. has any one done this conversion before.
yes its possible but the spi loom is the most complicated. post details of what you've connected where exactly
have you replaced the spi fuel pump with an mpi one? The astra mk3 one fits with a bit of trimming of the inlet pipe.
The gte engine only actually has 3 really essential wires that need joining to the car loom from the engine loom.
Big red to the back of the starter
Black to the ignition permanent live, you need to trace this from the ign switch, its the only wire that still has power when the engine is cranking
And blue/red for the fuel pump.
There is also the EML one that is brown/yellow
The rest are just the original wires reused.

Im not getting any power any where i know the ecu is ok because it works ok on his car

haven't changed the pump yet will it stop it running
first off, the spi pump won't power the mpi. It needs swapping.
Secondly, is the fuel pump whirring for a couple of seconds when you turn the ignition so the red lights show?
Thirdly, if the pump runs, does it continue running when it is cranking?
These questions will help determine if the correct +ve is wired in.

i know there is fuel when i crank the engine don't no how long it runs for i will try and get a pump this week has it got to be of a 1.6 or just any mpi
any astra mk3, corsa b or daewoo in tank mpi pump will do it, but you do need to measure up the intake pipe in the tank against the nova one & cut it down to suit, of it will squash the end & stop fuel flow.

i have wired it in as u say but there is still no life in it. when i turn the ignition on it squirts fule for a sec then stops. it doesnt inject fule when it is cranking is this right
The would suggest you have taken your switched live from the wrong place. Get a tester on where you have connected the switched live and make sure it stays
I've when cranking

i agree but you still need the mpi pump fitting to make it pump at the right pressure

tried again tonight and got it to spark and inject fuel but still wont start think its not getting enough fuel so im going to try a bigger pump tomorrow
finally. i've only been telling you for the last 2 days that the spi pump simply won't work an mpi engine

iv got two pumps from corsa bs one has the same part number as the one from the nova the other is in a metal casing do u think this one will be ok cant remember if its out of an 8v or 16v
are you sure you have the fuel pipes connected the right way? one of the most common mistakes which everyone has made before

i dont no i know the blue is the feed on the car but dont know what one on the fuel rail. i have swapped them around a couple of times before but not since i have got everything working properly. but i am going to try another pump tomorrow and see if that makes a difference
the return line goes the the pressure regulator.
