Probably into a dodgeiererer postcode lol

Been getting quotes for this year and the 7 year old Passat which is worth all of ten pence costs £200 a year more to insure than an 18 month old £12K Abarth 500 lol

I have played the game and its cheaper to 'park on the street' than on the drive too.

i can see the theory behind that insurance wise, if its a new car thats only going to start with the key and its parked on the road they wont know where the key is, if its on your drive they know where to brake in and get the keys to have it away

and the real reason is more then likely the amount of people that reverse out of there drive with out looking properly

It's a hint from the insurance to get rid of the mx5

Jeepers!! I bought a house in Coventry last year, and previously had all my cars insured at my parents address in St. Albans, which is a nicer area etc, parked on the driveway. However, my insurance dropped when I re-insured them at my new address parking them ont he street...

Not sure how old you are, but I pay £200 FC for me and the Mrs on my MX5. But get raped £550 FC on my 1999 Golf GT TDI with 4yrs protected NCB.

You'd be in trouble if you had to claim though

This. My GT4 was quoted the other day as £240 in the garage, £230 on the drive and £220 on the street. Maybe if I park it in a different street I can get it under £200? lol

There can't be that many people who don't look before reversing, and surely your car is at greater risk of damage if its on the road. Doesn't explain why garage is more expensive again too.The only thing I could think of is if your garage fell down, or if tiles fell off your roof... or maybe the claim rate is higher for garaged cars?

There's a guy round here, parks his R8 out front of his house. I think its because it won't fit in the garage lol but still, balls to doing that in Bristol, surprised its still there tbh!

If you have another car insured on a standard car policy, look to insure your older jap cars on a classic policy. Footman James quoted me that £200.

I've asked about this as my old VXR would have been an extra £70 to garage. They told me people damage their cars getting them in and out of the garage a lot. Makes sense in a round about way - chance of one of accidental damage / criminal damage is lower than two moves in/out of the garage each day.

You lot are lucky!!! My nova 1.2 club to insure in £2500 on my own on a low risk area and a low risk job, with a few tricks it's £1000, but it's still a lot! And a nova is the cheapest car I've tried to insure.

My suggestion, slice your penis off and watch the price drop! lol lol lol lol

I find jap to be cheaper than vauxhalls tbh, my GT4 is peanuts to insure compared to the Nova or even the Cav. Thats a UK model though, JDM cars are usually silly money to insure
