Does anyone know if they came out of the factory like this? My sisters Nova is a J Reg MK2 with 1b carb, manual choke and no cat. Is this unusual as all the 1.2 MK2 petrols I have seen before have been SPI?

spi's come out in late 91 models, you would be very lucky to see an orginal J plate spi,

a carb car wont have a cat anyway,

No the early Mk2 1.2's were all carb fed :)

Cheers for the quick replies. Ive had a couple of J reg SPIs so that's what threw me.. I wasn't expecting a carb + cat combo I just added for completeness ;)

It shouldn't have a cat if it's a carb model originally, of it has something has been converted

Got you, this has carb, no cat. Now I know they were made like this I'm pretty certain its factory and not been converted or messed around with. :thumb:

My old J red MK2 was also an early not cat carb model.
