1. can anyone tell me the rought overall size of a nova ? i need it to mask up the floor and see how much room i have to play with for shelfs, workbench ect
2. when prepping a garage floor for paint what kind of sealer did/do you use, i was just going to use a pva & water mix but wasnt sure if it was sutible as a base for garage floor paint?

I painted my garage floor last year and really wish I'd sealed the floor first! The floor was in good condition, but when I've left a cart standing on the paint for a while it pulls the paint off when I move the car...
God quality sealers are as expensive as the paint.
Don't put anything along the side walls of the garage assuming it's wide enough to even consider - you'll always want some wiggle room to park the car wonky to get better access to something. Racks at the end, ceiling hangers and high up shelving etc.
Seal and paint the floor well in advance of getting the car back to give it time to harden off either that or spend some serious dosh on the proper garage flooring lol

Was going to say the same. I would never want shelves or anything either side of a garage as you will always want that extra space to work in. If possible the back wall is the best place to store your stuff.

Another tip, get some white masonary paint and paint the walls! The difference it makes is amazing, so much brighter!

I'll post a couple of pics of my garage.
You can never have too much light mate, paint the walls and I would recommend as many strip lights as you can afford! :) try to hang some on the side walls too if you got the room!

As said, try not to pin yourself in with racking on both sides, I have it one one, along with the roll-cab and engine stand and crane etc.
I hoovered my garage floor, then put the paint on. Been perfect for 3-4 years now. With oil and fuel spilt on it...
I used a 50-50 PVA/Water mix to seal my garage floor before laying floor tiles.
Would have thought it'd have been fine for painting too (using a Floor paint)
if the concrete base is new, which it looks like it is, don't even bother with painting it till its had at least couple of months of dry weather.
concrete is massively porous when it is 'green' and takes weeks to simply set to full strength, then it has to dry out.
you'd be better off painting it in october if we have decent ish weather.
then brush it 5 or 6 times with a fine brush to get the dust off, or hoover it as already said, then paint it. remember to start at the back.... lol lol lol

you wouldnt seal the floor then? the floor is a couple of years old i would have thourght
nope. masonry is porous. sealing it is about the worst thing you can do to it.
the amount of wet we have had recently will make the concrete too wet to key to.
get it dry & dust free, then just hit it with decent grey floor paint, and to do this, you need to be patient, or rent an enormous space heater to cook it dry.

ok I'm with you now, we got the corsa in the garage and there is plenty of room to move around the car in there but not enough to put a work bench unfortunately :(, but making lemonade with these lemons and acquired some ply to renew the manky sheds floor which is rotten to fuk due to there being no felt on the roof
so that will be my secondary play area, good times :)
might have to start a new project thread for all this stuff once all the unpacking is done lol

Definetly start a thread for it, sounds like you want a decent finish which is always a good thing to read about.
I agree with mowgli, when i first moved into my house all i did with my floor was clean it and paint it with some garage paint. I had to re-do patches of it at times but it wasnt too bad and always came up clean.
I dont agree with the people saying get as many lights in it as possible, how many have you all got Lol? In my main part of the garage i have one light and it lights up the place great. I thought about having one near the bottom of the walls to light up underneath the car but they'll just get smashed or kicked off imo.

lol i poured a 5lt tin on to my floor and used a foam mop to "brush" it around(seen it on tv painted on like that) worked bloody well, was very heavy on tho.. Took 5days to dry with a fan on moving the air about in the middle of summer.

cant wait to get this cast off on friday and crack on with everything, going to be fun having the space to mess about in lol

This is what happens when you pour on/paint out as oppose to paint out via tin/tray.

Top tip.
When my parents garage got rebuilt after a fire i persuaded my dad to paint the walls. He wasnt keen but agrees it is brighter.
