Nova GTE

Hello everyone in the PNG, I've been signed up for a while with intentions to make this thread but never really got round to it.
Basicly me and my partner attended Billing 2011 and wanted something to show for future events but at the time only had an astra g although it was a smart car newish ones dont really have the same effect. The search began but we knew we wanted a nova, many nova's down the line in April we came across the nova we have been looking for. An almost perfect GTE which has been kept original apart from some crappy alarms and electric windows that wernt even wired up, all for a steal as the fella selling it had it on his drive for over a year just sat rusting and needed space.

Here it is back on the drive as we got it.

If you have a look on youtube the nova gte advert from the eighties,the one with the building site.the nova in that has a very similar reg to yours,f***oye

F reg isnt that the first year GTE's came about?

F reg isnt that the first year GTE's came about?
Think it was an E reg mate the first of them

came with the steels and trims, thought about putting them on to keep it original but these looked better

Yep,i have an old car magazine with a roadtest and its an E reg,also remember that as far as registrations go 1988 can be E reg till august 1st,then F reg from then onwards

Production started February 1988 and F registration was August 1988 to July 1989. The relase date may have been September hence most being on an F registration but there may be press cars etc that are/were kicking around on an E plate.

I'm sure there were a few E reg gte's kicking about that weren't press cars too though

Possibly ex dealer demo's etc if you are saying they were not officially released until Sept 88

Thats always a good start mate,mine cost £100 and was a total bucket but i wont have to worry about rot for a good few years yet hopefully,looking forward to more pics

mine cost a tad more lol at £900 with gsi boot and few other bits thrown in, didnt want to get anything that needed to much work as this was our first project lol

just had a scan through looks very smart, you went alot further than i have. Its used as our every day car atm not ideal but needs must

After stripping it to see what damage has been done was a suprise at how well it had faired since it has been stood on a drive for a few years

I'm confused what happened with the 'GTE' sticker on the passenger door, was it primed over then painted and removed?!

Paint finish looks nice though, and spotlights are a cool touch

no we just covered them over with tape then sprayed the car then took the tape off to reveal the original stickers

in the end though we did end up buying some custome made ones of a fella on here as the silver was fading badly but the G was the wrong size on the new set
