what difference will changing the bump stops have to handling or anything else for that matter.
i have just seen a thread and it said about changing bump stops - but why change them???

The bump stops are usually changed if you lower the car, they come with the kit. Because the dampers have a shorter stroke you need to maximise what travel there is, therefore shorter bump stops.

they dont affect the handling - only the feel on lowered cars.

They stop tghe shock absorber bottoming out on the strut top mounts (giving you that massive thud over the UK's many pot holes!!!)

Lower the car more than 40mm and you should cut the bump stops down by 20mm if using standard ones.

Some kits come with shorter stops - others (GMAX) - dont - well mine never anyway!

To change handling try the following

lower the car on full springs and shocks (proper kit)
try anti roll bars
try a strut brace
get wider/bigger wheels

these mods and combinations will change the handling considerably

Just remember when changing suspension parts to get the tracking done!
