I bought an f13 gearbox from a corsa sport, i fitted the cable into the slot and the speedo wasnt working, i left it for the night. i started again this morning to find a big hole in the bottem of the gearbox casing ( the plastic cog had shot through the metal )

So i thought ok that must be why, i got a new casing and cog and re-fitted it. but when i wipped the casing off i noticed that there was no mechanical cog for the plastic one to seat in, there was only one with a few squares in.

Is there a way round this or do i have to get another box ? i've never seen it before and i've done loads of gearboxes.

obviously the plastic style cog wont run on that.

There should be another plastic cog on that metal ring i think? Im not sure if u can just fit another plastic ring to the diff carrier but there`s no need to get another box you just need a new diff carrier. i have one in an f15 corsa sport gearbox if you cant get one locally. Pm if you ever need it and ill strip it out of the box

ive checked a spare f13 box i had before and there is a massive difference in the 2, the spare f13 has metal splines which arent removable unless the gearbox is removed as far as i can see, i havent looked fully into it as i just thought id post on here for advice on whats easier

it could well be as there isnt any marking on it, although it looks identical to the spare f13 i had, suppose i couldnt really tell unless i look at the internals.

Would i have to change the drive gear over ? if so is this hard to do as i have a spare f10 box with the mechanical speedo on or would it be just as easier to get a new box

That looks like it might be a ring for a hall sensor, so it may be a box set up for an electronic sensor. I've never stripped one down so I'm not sure how easy they are to swap.

Apparently they run off the abs system, according to google.
I think it will be easier to source another gearbox,

thanks for the input guys

Interesting, i might need to this on my F15 as the X16XE engine its attached to is in a W plate Corsa B..
