View Full Version : C16 Se tuning which heads best with t45s
Hi there I have a c16se running t45s high lift cam and adjustable pulley. going to give it a full rebuild and have the choice of 3 different heads and don't know what's the best for bhp. Option 1 1.2 head option 2 1.6 head or option 3 a daewoo 8valve head with massive inlet ports. ??? Am also going to port and polish the head and skim it down quite a bit lol going for mahle pistons and updated bearings.modified oil coolin jets hone the cylinders. Any adive on which head is best will be greatly appreciated
Thanks..
well, a std c16xe head would be way better than an 8v....
but a big valve c16se head with decent porting, like the blydenstein b+ would be a good start..
the 1.2 has a tiny combustion chamber, so compression would be good, but the valves are way smaller than stock c16se ones
i can't imagine the daewoo head was built for speed, has it been worked on??
The daewoo head hasn't had anything done to it yet but I am a engine reconditioner with 17 year experience I was going to port and polish recut valves and seats and skim it. But still not to sure which to use with my t45s
what engine code is the daewoo engine?
what i would recommend is looking at using the c16se head, and have a good look at the sizes of c20seh valves, and also bmw 318 8v (is it the m40 engine) valves, cos iirc they are the closest fit but larger valves, then sort out bigger seats, either by enlarging the old ones, or fitting new ones, then smooth out the ports round the valve guides, & the back of the valve seats. don't go mad with trying to polish the inlet side, as a rough port is proven to help with keeping the fuel mixed, but by all means polish the exh ports.
if you are brave enough, machining down the valve stems & taking metal off the back of the heads would really increase flow too.
Think I'll just stick to the c16 Se head. And do all the work to it think I have a few BMW heads lying about so will have a look at valves
please post up some pics of the valves, the bmw ones appear to be the right sort of length, but i'm not sure if the collet groove is the right size. a parts list can give sizes, but a pic is always better..
if you get good results, i'm sure there is a lucrative sideline doing heads like these for people
It will be Monday before am back at work I'll keep you posted
