once all the fan and crap have been removed the bmw engine is rather short, id grab a cheap ass rottern e36 328i, 200bhp out the box,

If your gonna use a BMW motor this^ wouldnt even bother going to all that effort for a 100 odd hp 1.8 cast iron blocked POS lol

If you want to Sqeeze that in a nova, make sure it's a 328i sport, as they use m3 gearboxes and are good for 160mph! I bought on last year in **** condition fe £270 with mot!

But it's a lot of work!

amazingly, mk1/2 escort stuff is quite a close match, but expensive..

the bmw stuff will be too long & too wide for a std shell, so you'd need to widen it.

so best bet is probably get a bmw donor, cut the top off it, shorten it to suit & get the prop & brake lines modified, and then lower the top of a nova onto it..then get some wide arches.

as for AWD, people have done this with calibra turbo stuff. fair amount of head scratching & hard work, but look at longdogcharlies thread in projects to see how its done.

Rather than trying to work out what Powertrain to use, are you actually capable of the fabrication work required to do the task?

wouldn't a mx5 running gear be close enough?

Maybe E30?
