Just had a email from HIC about the renewal on the Sport

They have quoted me £371 for the year

Whats peoples opinions on that price ?

Im 34
Decent postcode I think
Sp30
All stuff declared obviously

Also it says that they will just auto renew if I don't contact them, is this normal practice nowadays then ?

It's not only normal practice but also if you have changed your card details they can contact your bank to get new card details to take the funds apparently!

Is that on a limited mileage policy with agreed value?

To be honest thats a fair price. HIC charge me nearly exactly the same price for my Nova. Thats heavily modified and i have similar circumstances to yourself.

Its probably your agreed value that pushes the price up, without it you could probably get insured £100 cheaper.

My sport insurance is very similar to yellowsrnova almost same price with Adrianflux with mileage limited to 3k a year

Feel free to get in touch for a comparison price, we can also now look at an agreed valuation.

Edd, as Paul says it must be your agreed value pumping up the price!

My old 16xe Nova (group 15) was £350 fully comp with Flux and that was on a limited 8000 miles... Also I live in a BD postcode which is one of the worst in the UK.

I'm only a year older than you ;)

Most insurance companies will auto-renew, you can contact them and ask for it not to be auto-renewed

I have had experiences the last few years with companies auto renewing, one without any warning, had I not noticed it on my bank statement they would have continued to do this.

I always do an internet search comparison site every time, always cheaper than the renewal. I'm 38 and the last time to insure my SR was £108. The agreed value was £2K (a bit ambitious for an SR perhaps). I did have to send pictures etc for them to agree.

The only reason i can see for your premium being so much higher is the higher agreed value.

i no the sports are a bit sort after but 6k to me sounds like a bit much for the value ,im sure lowering the value will bring your quote down a lot

I pay £128 a year for my Sport with the SCCR declared and an agreed valuation of £6000 so to me it seems pricey but you have a roll cage which pushes up premiums quite a bit. I use RH insurance who were recommended to me by Royston and I have used them for two years trouble free and no annual increase. Even my dad now uses them and he has saved money on his BMW's insurance.

Done some ringing round today

NO ONE but Hic will insure me with the cage, all the other mods, limited miles, agreed value

So I will just have to pay it by the looks of things

Tried Brentacre?

I'm sceptical of these agreed values etc, as I had my mk1 on one but the most they would go to was £1200 and IMO that's not what it would cost to replace so didn't bother on renewal!

My agreed value had to be backed up by a valuation letter and they have sent out updated paperwork with the agreed value stated on there.

Well in 16 years of driving ive never had a policy auto renew

I have now managed to get it down to £270 now ive got them to take off, lost key, wrong fuel and some mega overpriced breakdown cover, im happy with cost now

Agreed at £6000 which just involves 9 pics, they also wanted a copy of the letter I have confirming its a genuine Sport

All of my insurance policies have auto-renewed, its common practise to ensure continued cover on the vehicle, its up to the policy holder to request cancellation or for it to end when the policy expires!

Im paying £520 FC on the nova, all mods declared XE the lot, thats priced at £3k but not agreed, and limited mileage of 5k a year!

Im 31 and its kept either in a secured 'drive' if its at home, or in the unit when its not!
