Project Munchie; The new daily!

after a year or so driving a mk1 as a daily i was getting pretty fed up of the comfort from 26 year old GM suspension & the warmth in winter (Lack of) lol so i went on the hunt for a new daily to put on the road at the beggining of september, and landed this;

The reason its called project munchie is fairly obvious, for an 18 year old its a bloody old munchies car lol its a '99 Facelift LS model with a X20XEV in it with 66k on the clock :) 2 previous owners and pretty much full vauxhall service history :d around the same insurance for me as a 1.2 nova & has 80 more hp + is a damn sight more comftable so im happy for the £500 it cost me! + its in one of the best colours VX have ever done, second to arden blue :)

Plans are:
Phase 1 GSI wheels
MSD Front bumper
CDX xenon headlights
Irmscher spoiler
lowered 35mm
De badged grille.

Already been out and bought a spoiler, De badged grille + a haynes book of lies
Which came to less than £50 so im happy.

ideally need a refurb but im not sure what colour to go :confused: either white or anthracite but either way theyre probably my favourite wheels gm have ever made, looking for a set for my MK2 now lol
On the hunt for a bumper & headlights now then its a full service and MOT ready for september :thumb:

also have a second set of 5 wheels that im getting powder coated white, and 5 brand new Nangkang NS2's put on as this set are getting a bit lowwww.
Bought a GSI front bumper off ebay too but not sure how legit the guy is... :wtf:
then for a good service & fresh discs and pads all the way around as they looked a bit low when i had the wheels off earlier!

Keeping standard height, as with the 17's on it doesnt have monster arch gap & wanting to keep the comfort :)

Thanks - it looked really OE - I even managed to line up the trip reset shaft with the same hole !

There's loads of mods you can do with the poverty spec Vectras - GSI/SRI steering wheel, Titantium centre console and cup holders , seat up grades (I had SRI half leather recaros) , rear electric windows and lots more !

VVOC is a great source of ideas and parts and is where I got most of my stuff from .

Yeah i plan to slowly change most of the interior over to Super touring carbon bits and some gsi recaro's, although i dont really have any complaints about the seats in it at the moment, done a few long drives and never had back/leg ache yet!

bit of a road trip last night down to south mimms services on the m25 to pick up a phase 1 gsi bumper from a guy off vectra-sport who kindly offered to bring it down from there wirral meet for another member who was selling it, lovely bunch of chaps on there.

158 miles & 4 and a 1/2 hours later i was back home with it, nearly hit the magic 40 and got 39.5 mpg which is my best yet! was 50/55 all the way there and back though, truly mind bending :cry:lol

so now i have a full set of phase 1 gsi bumpers :)

plan is to get rid of them dutty council house bump strips along the top by cutting them out and replacing it with plastic from phase 2 bumpers, seen it done before and it looks bloody awesome!
