trying to find my bird a new car, she is being mega picky and tbh i dont blame her, were working with a budget of 2k (absolute max) and on her nursery nurse wage thats a massive amount of money so we have to get her the right car

the only car she seems to like are corsa C's but the majority of them seem to be sold/owned by idiots who megaly over value the cars

what i need to do is find some other motors with in the price range to show her and see if she likes them but im coming up short on finding diffrent cars (becuase i suck )

so your mission is to post up pictures of (girls) cars that can be found with in the budget that she will like as i cant lmfao

good luck out there guys :d

You can get a nice 53 reg SportKA for around £1,200 - £1,500 (they were going for £3,000+ earlier this year) but the cost of TAX is the reason for this (£215 a year)!

Or even a StreetKA you can get for around £1,500 on a 04-05 reg.

Be careful looking at a Corsa C the age that's in the link. I'd put money on the timing chain being rattly as anything. Also need to check the wiper linkage/motor. These go quite regularly, it's £90 for the motor and £55 for the linkage on Trade. Scrappy's round here won't sell them either, they refurb them and sell them at just under £100 for the motor and linkage together.

The handbrakes are normally crap anyway but check it's not wearing everything away where the cable goes around the beam.

Check the aircon properly, like all good vauxhalls they like to spit the condensor and based on experience probably the compressor.

Check the rear springs, the pig tails snap off all the time I replaced two in two years on the same side!

Check the servicing, some are on ecoFlex (service when the car says so or two years) others are on normal yearly service. Seems like lots of garages including dealers put semi synth oil in even when the car is on ecoFlex. The oil filters are paper and break down a lot quicker in semi synth (they should have fully synth), bits break off and block the oil squirters in the chain and it will snap. The chains go loose over time anyway which is why most of them rattle so much - you don't know how long you've got before it gives up.

All cars have their problems I know but hopefully this'll help you out, our Corsa was pretty good really. The chain didn't rattle at all as I did in between oil changes from when we bought it at nearly new (05 plate) but the other bits I had to do.

she likes the look of the newer shape fiestas anyone know common faults with the 1.25 engine?

mowgli
10-07-12, 09:45 PM
ford build quality on the shell, but the 1.25 engine is excellent

a mate got asked to fix one after his mate forgot to do the cambelt.....

the engine was fixed quite easily, but the pillock[who owned it] tried to bump start it when it broke down, and we also had to put the front panel back on!!!! lol.... he'd got it up to about 40 & in laurel & hardy style dumped the clutch & watched his bumper & panel fly off up the road. lol lol

sounds alright been looking them up on google and no real common problems maybe a crunch in the gearbox when reversing

40mpg would be a massive improvement on the 1.6 corsa aswell lol
