A car has to be insured to be taxed now so no insurance means sorn

the other things that are pissing me of are the cat c cars, i phone them up as I'm not bovered they will have to had all the repair work done to a good standard to get back on the road but why be cagey about what damage there was?

instantly dont trust them after that

A car is worth fook all without an MOT, as if it doesn't have one you have to assume its not going to pass one. Yet people still ask top prices for their 'mint' yet untaxed and no mot car. Then theres people who put their cars for sale online with no pictures, no price, and the only details they give are useless one like it having mudflaps or HID lights, no mention of rust etc.

I cant stand cars at the side of the road which say FOR SALE in great big letters, then either no price, or a price in small charachters. It doesnt even need to say for sale.... we know that if there is a big price in the window and dont even need to stop!

On the other hand i just bought a used van privately, which came with 11 months tax and a full tank of diesel.

You'd be right not to trust them. I think you'd be surprised at what does get put back on the road.

If it's a legit Cat C then the person selling it can be totally up front, let's face it there is no hiding from the fact it was written off. Being cagey would suggest heavy structural damage was repaired, probably on the cheap?

what about a full tank of fuel? every time ive sold a car its with tax and mot and always at least a quarter in the tank. thats a lot compared to what ive got EVERYTIME which is usually bugger all lol! hav to agree though that no mot but will fly through - get it done then - if itll fly through then why wouldnt you and instantly make your car twice as easy to sell? bit dodgy ive always thought when ive seen that put up.

Actually if you look at the conditions etc it states "unless the car is between registered owners" i.e, for sale.

If you're selling it you're still the registered owner though... I'd only class "between owners" as the period you send the V5 off for and await a new document.

what about traders cant they just tax there cars?

Yep. Normally at cost to buyer though once a sale is agreed.

Aye thats true, normally a motor trader will SORN all cars theyve bought in as they never have any idea of when the car will sell, and then retax at buyers expense once the sale is agreed!

The most annoying one is 'I've only got the green slip' you get there and it's 'I can't find the green slip'
So that's £25 off the price of the car as you have to apply for a new one!
