Just a thread to see who does track days? I`m thinking of doing a track day in my nova so some advice really, good companies to use or avoid, tracks worth going to or avoid. Also any advise for a track day novice really.
Can i do a track day without tax and insurance if i trailer it there ? Tyres to use or avoid, as you can tell i know nothing about track days but just thought it would be a laugh and get to thrash the car about abit .

No tax or insurance required. Avoid road tyres, Have fun on a budget and remember to check your mirrors.
Maybe go along to the summer action day at castle combe and get a few short sessions under your belt first. Although the standard of driving on those days isnt great (especially mine).
Its more about driving whatever you have as close to the limit as possible. So spending a fortune making a track weapon should also be avoided.
Definitely avoid road tyres, they just don't cope with the heat on track. Something like the R888s (or R1Rs which are a bit cheaper) should be good.
I've done trackdays with Circuit Days, Javelin Trackdays, Apex Trackdays, and maybe a few others and they all seem much of a muchness.
I'd start with a small airfield one first off, something like Blyton Park is perfect for a novice, loads of space to spin off and learn the car, and it's only £99!

Worth mentioning that even with track tyres you will kill them very quickly if they are inflated to the wrong pressure.
I have a set of dunlop direzza 02g's which i use on track and they are awesome.

thanks for the info, i am slowly preparing the car for road rallying so wont be building a track weapon but just thought it would be a laugh and a bit of a shake down for the car . Tyre wise i was thinking yoko a048 in 175 50 13 , what sort of pressures do you think i should try to start. I have driven castle combe track in a mini cooper s rally car ,so have just googles the event you mention and will look into it. Thanks again.
