Hi guys,

So to cut a long story a little shorter two weeks back I got a phone call from a guy who does a little bit of trading saying........ "I know where theirs a nova that may interest you" Apparantly another trader he knew had come across a nova with an extremely low mileage and was asking around to see If it interested anyone. This is when I was called about It and asked If I was interested in it. But as we didnt know If it was a hatch, saloon or five door I remained uninterested until nearly a week later when I was forwarded a picture of a 1993 hatch in red that looked to be in very good condition.

However the text I recieved afterwards was the shocker reading "It only has 2600 miles on the clock" !! So the story goes an 85 year old chap who had recently passed owned it from new and kept it garaged but hardly used it all his life. Obviously at this point I knew I had to go view it so did just that. The battery was flat so we couldnt run it but the overall condition was just mindblowing especially for a mk2! Delving a little further into Its history apparantly It hadnt been used for years and the last tax disc was dated 2002 so It looks like It hadnt been used in ten years and just sat under a dust sheet in his garage.

I showed some interest and said I would return once a battery was fitted. The guy called me the following day to say he'd done just that and the car had fired straight up. So I went over and took It for a drive which just amazed me further as It drove fantastically.... The clutch was so light its almost like driving a new car! Following this I brokered a deal on the basis I would take it If he had the car mot'd. A few days later the car sailed straight through the mot and was dropped off for me.

Here are some pics.........

Paint and bodywork are completely original and fantastic throughout with only two small stonechips being the flaws!..........

Its completely stock with the only mark being a slight scuff on one side of the front bumper. Theirs no dents, scratches or anything at all! And its still on the original tyres including the spare!!

A few interior shots........

The boot looks like Its hardly been used as the carpets mint and theirs not a mark on the rear seat back or inner wheel houses.........

Then It brings me to my favourite which is the engine bay. The engine, gearbox and all the components even down to the nuts and bolts are stunning. All the zinc work is completely unblemished. check these out!.............

I think you get the idea but the bloody thing is awesome and could easily after good minting could go for concourse! Ive never heard of a mark 2 with mileage as low as this or seen one that hasnt been restored in this sort of condition. However due to my mk1 project commitments Im afraid the plan was to buy and sell for a little profit which will in turn help my plans for the mk1 become reality. If Id have had another garage things could have been a little different but I dont so I felt I should ask around and try find it a good home which I have. Ive since recieved a deposit so we'll see what happens!

looks good

But if it's been sat for 10 years, why are the wheel arches full of cack? I hope it's not been sat covered in muck for 10 years? So the question on every ones lips: what is it like underneath? inside the rear quarters (where inner and outer arches meet) inside the chassis box sections ?

Just read the post properly think it might be the new owner that posted it and he said he was gonna store it and only bring it out for Billing and enter it for concourse!

The underside is as mint as everywere else on the car It was checked by myself and the mot tester who was amazed by it! Believe me after running these for approx 15 years on top of what I do for a living I know were to check a nova for downsides. Im sure the rear boot floor corners wouldnt look like that If their was a problem underneath either! No doubt the arches are full of crap as theyve never been cleaned and recently when its been run around the weather has been appalling so I guess that may have something to do with it too. I was sceptical and had to see/drive the car to believe it and Im sure many will be the same!

Lovely, the first car I bought myself was the exact same model as this, also red with the wheel trims etc. It definitely been sold then?

Lovely example, hard to know what to do with a car like that though. On one hand it's the best base for a project, but on the other it's a shame to rip apart such an original well preserved car. Selling it was the easiest option!!!lol

Both cars were supplied by the York vauxhall dealer being "Leedhams" at the time which no longer exists. This latest one still has the dealer plates and other livery right the way through. If you look carefully you'll see it all ;)
