Had one for a while, pretty sluggish as standard but easy to play with as per most old TD's, definitely feels 'heavy' to drive compared to a Nova, besides that it seemed alright... just not really my thing, sold it to someone I knew at uni when I found a Nova TD

I used to run a TD. Found it well quick off the line but ran out of power early! Top speed of like 110MPH

Sold it the day a Punto sporting left me at a ton! lol

my mrs had one of these (hdi) owned it 5 years and was a brilliant car. was wicked on fuel and looked pretty smart as well, she had a 5door moonstone blue one with the cyclone alloys and half leather.

Having said that, its french and i think we were lucky.

personally i would buy a pug, unless it was a 205.

I was considering one of these to chug me to work and back, only ever really hear good reviews for these, especially for the dollar.

I know three people that have had pugs

The first has had 2 206's, the first one wasn't too bad, the gerabox was pretty much falling out of it, the second one suffers random flat battery issues, central locking doesn't really work and just has fits, the gearbox makes a horrible knocking/banging noise and is pretty much dying

The second person had a 306, it only started when it wanted to then the gearbox died and he sold it

The third person got a 306hdi it has ABS fault, airbag fault and some other assorted faults and the exhaust developed a crack on the cat pipe and he was quoted £230 to repair, he just got it welded.

I know im biased against french cars anyway, but Peugeot are really not helping themselves lol

dont they both have different engines? i know the d.turbo can be easily tuned but turning the fuelling up on the pump etc. the hdi would need remapping to gain anything.

for looks id go hdi as its a phase 3.

My 1.9 TD looked really good I really liked it despite the electrical problems and the leaking heater matrix (That the garage missed 3 times but did the head gasket instead! haha :tard:).

It was just that it wasn't fast enough!

the phase 1/2/3 shells etc are all the same so you can put the phase 3 kit on an old d turbo if you want the easy power.

Think its a bit like the novas mate if its a phase 1 then leave it be!

Think new motors new are too smooth and rounded!

When you run people over you want them to know they been hit by a car! lol

the 1.9td were allegedly detuned as they were as fast as the sporty models but you can easly wind the boost back up and have some smokey fun lol

I love my little pug, iv got a 98 d turbo, i dont get great mpg(better than i ever did in the nova) but i didnt think about that when i turned the fuel up then the turbo(running 25psi) low insurance group too, parts are cheap and easy to get hold of, loadsa second hand parts around and to be honest i dont think they look too bad for a french car. and a decent one can be picked up for 500 quid if you look around.
