Does anyone own the frist ever nova that was made or the last one that was made ?

Southie

Unless some worked on the production line then I doubt it lol

mowgli
06-07-12, 09:02 PM
it will have been a corsa...

novadave24
06-07-12, 09:03 PM

mowgli
06-07-12, 09:05 PM
most manufacturers actually hang on to prototypes, and early production cars for development, publicity, training purposes.. then a lot get scrapped. or crash tested. jag are about the only company i know for certain that have all the original first cars.

mowgli

they all say dittend instead of didn't
and they can't say thousand, its more like pheasant
then there is that place called hainault, that is pronounced 'anal' followed by that seal noise that all londoners say instead of the letter 'T'

Southie
06-07-12, 09:24 PM
I love the fact this site can turn from a standardish question into a totally random thread lol

mowgli
06-07-12, 09:48 PM
keeping to a topic is not what this place is about.....

try nuttychocolatebars.com if you want on topic conversations....

op, try looking at the tinned peas in aldi, cos thats probably where all the early novas are now.......lol

Spelling correctly is one of the forum rules to which you agreed upon signing up, therefore consider this a warning

mowgli
07-07-12, 09:56 PM
dave, re the why they don't sell them question....

manufacturers do all sorts of funky accounting to make sure they write off millions and millions against their development budgets, its a selling point on ads & press releases, it looks good to their shareholders & keeps the taxman off their backs, so if they can save several millions by fiddling the books, why would they get interested in a shonky corsa a that cost them a couple of thousand quid to make?

Edd

oh god the spelling police have hit this thread hard ffs :roll:lol who cares ....... :)

Why don't they sell them would be better then wasting them tho

Because they have to formally value them PROPERLY, which puts mundane cars at massive values. So selling them would be at a massive loss. Not to mention the fact most prototypes are utter dogs as they are engineering cars so the rework is more than just supplying a new car.

PS FORT is a place you fight the bad guys, not a replacement for thought..... I'm declaring that text speak as you are deliberately using bad shortening of a word.

edd. you can actually spell. i don't know if anyone told you this..... but you are usually the first to complain when a person gets corrected, and lets be honest here, the language is usually stuff they learnt in primary school, but so many people type so fast that they simply don't re-read it before hitting [post]

Or simply don't think before mashing keys to deliberately spell a word correctly but to replace another word that nearly sounds similar. Then they hit post without thinking about it...

Unless on an iPad, in which case it makes random tat up for you and its just easier to let it go lol

i don't mean any malice in anything i post.

i know a bloke who has been into stock car racing for about 30 years, and he is not exactly the most clued up person i've ever met.. he was merrily telling me some things to do with my nova if i ever fit a redtop.... like simply moving the whole engine & box back 2" to sort out the handling......

the main thing about stock cars is safety. they build the cars tough, simply to finish the race... the f1 ones have those massive v8's & 2(or is it 3?) speed boxes, which is way over what they need to get round the track fast, but it is a bumper car sport.
then the fastest cars start last & always win, so there's a lot of people in the race who can't be doing it right

Edd

im not disagreeing with people spelling stuff wrong, basic stuff wrong is annoying yes, spell check aint hard to use if your stuck :)

BUT after 3/4 posts correcting his bad spelling, (admittedly posting 'fort' after the initial spelling mistake was a little humorous lol) then a Moderator giving him a warning is rediculous

Just seems to be alot of threads full of people banging on about spelling lately, personally i find it boring

Surely we log on to PNG to chat about nova's and other random stuff not to constantly jump on the spelling bandwagon

Stuart
07-07-12, 10:41 PM
Would you rather every post was using random words that nearly sound like one you already mean and other such typing/spelling oddities?
That would be lovely huh..

pottersrebel
07-07-12, 10:44 PM
when its contact racing its normally the guy who has the biggest ( courage ) that starts at the back and its guys like me who start in the middle that move out of their way to save a trip to the wall. Thats why they normally finish first, sorry for going off topic but maybe f1 should be the same ie put the quickest guys at the back of the grid. I dont do the brisca f1`s or f2`s just the 1300 stockcars which use 1300 vauxhall engines and are very restricted on any engine modifications so gear ratios and what differential u run mean alot.

TBH as frustrating as it is, people making the odd mistakes/text speak doesn't bother me. However rules are rules so should be respected.

What is a bit out of order on this particular thread is the main person who complained before mods got involved not only spelt words incorrectly he was also derogatory about people. Surely that is as bad, or worse, than the original guy spelling 1 word incorrectly.

mowgli

there is a lot of BS spoken in racing paddocks. our firm sponsored a lad in stock hatch, & some of the 'advice' he received actually made him go slower.

pottersrebel
07-07-12, 10:56 PM
totally agree with that mowgli. im in my second year and have been sponsered my new car by the guy who built it an his advice is totally different to what i have been told in the past and im now currently fourth in the points out of 20 + registered drivers. Some people are worth listening too the rest i just nod my head and agree then ignore their advice

Here's one for all you anti-spelling freedom fighters, clearly i listened and learned how spell and speak, and punctuate whilst at school, reading posts by others annoys the hell out of me when they deliberately mis-type/mis-spell/plain use incorrect words, why should i be accused of being the spelling police for pointing it out or correcting someone, im being victimised simply because i can spell, surely it should be the other way around and the ones who didn't listen, who didn't learn, should be the ones who need the constant barrage of abuse from people like edd when he mounts that horse?

If i were driving along in a car with no insurance, tax or even a licence, you'd be the first to get annoyed and shop me in because you have a licence, tax and insurance, why should you have to go through all the hard work of acheiving the relevant skills and certificates to drive legally, when i can just flit my way through life and not bother, yes im just using this as another view on this, but the written word is man's greatest acheivement, it' soon going to be lost because people simply don't care anymore, and that is infuriating to those who actually bothered and worked/learnt at school!

Oh and Stubert....

loves the smell of the infraction stick.... but not enough to get the ban hammer out. Fell blessed kids.

Damn you for that, have an infraction lol

Although im probably the only one that's noticed so youre efforts weren't in vain :p

Anyway, back to the OP, i'd be willing to bet that the first ever nova, was a base model and wouldn't have been worth keeping, they sometimes made a show of the last ever one like they did with the Cavalier mk3, but it will still have been sold on, iirc the heritage centre only keeps models of interest, i.e. the mk2 Astra GTE and such, so a pov spec Y reg nova wouldn't have held much interest to be fair lol

Most oem's crush prototypes because they are liable for massive vat and ved taxes if they don't.

Watched some or other car show recently and got told that the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse prototype used in South Africa will get crushed as soon as the development programme is ended. This made my stomach turn... :(

Experienced the same thing many moons ago in a VX220. I got to have a go in it - on a Belgian potato field! - as it was to be sent to the crusher shortly after (it was a test mule for Vauxhall UK apparently) so giving it the berries in the dirt wasn't a problem. Sad, this... very sad indeed.

Funny you should say that lol I might be leaving soon to go elsewhere doing the same but with a lot more F1 go go's. Good lark though fairly, mincing about with all manner of overpriced, overpowered super car jazz & all kinda prototype shiz. Big cannons, ballistic equipment, robots yadda yadda. And you get to meet a lot of famous motorsport type people too.

Ive already seen the 3 new Bentleys, the new Jag estate thing, the new Range Rover & also the development Mono race cars before places like Top Gear even had wind of them being "in pipeline". I also had a hand in the production of all 30 prototype AM Zegato's too. And will soon be doing panels for a very awesome little road legal track car!

Not that I mean to brag or owt lol but Im also off for a recon at Force India & Mclaren soon too.

Certainly is. Theres an M12 in there too with a 540hp motor in.
