id suspect a possible air lock or h/g failure

head gasket but before panicking bleed the coolant system, i think you unscrew the cts but am not 100% sure as its been years since i looked at an e16 and never had to do it when i had mine

The matrix could be blocked. If all the water hoses are hot and one side of the matrix is cold then it could be that. Also is the cable connected for the selector

Wheres the cold air coming from, not the two centre vents? As these only blow out cold air. This might sound stupid but is the heater matrix connected? My friend bought a car a few years back and the heater matrix was leaking so the owner pulled the two pipes off it and joined them together to save buying a new one. My mate never noticed till a few weeks later when he turned the heater on lol

The cable clip can come off the heater slide, and as mentioned above the centre vents only blow cold air

Not sure what your trying to accomplish but you need to warm the hair up first? lol

sounds like something simple to me, maybe the heater cable has snapped so its stuck on cold, close the 2 centre vents, you may struggle to feel the warmth as the weather is getting hotter than the Nova heaters can get...yes they are quite poo lol

the centre vents only ever blow cold. its how they were designed to work. get the cooling system flushed out properly, and only fit a new stat if the gauge isn't reading warm

The centre vents on most vauxhall only blow cold

and everytime i step into a Vauxhall in winter i always wonder what the deal is with that, did some random vaux designer one day say;

"I know, lets make all the centre vents blow cold air, that way everyone will get a warm right hand and cold left hand"

at which point all the other designers started laughing while the posh one exclaimed how "astounding" that is:roll:

Plastic welding time to make the centre blow hot

Center vents dont blow cold air, they vent air in from outside the car, its to get good air circulation in and keep a supply of fresh air coming in!

Odly, mk3 cavs have two center vents and one blows hot while the one next to it blows luke warm, very odd lol

its just a throwback to the days before car makers were obsessed with computer design & air-con, which are both needed to sell a car these days...lol
