I'm looking to buy a brake flaring kit to make up new lines for my van and other vehicles and would like to know anyone's recommendations :thumb:

I just made up some new lines for the rear beam on my Nova, using a basic kit from Machine Mart, it did the job well.

Probably worth spending more on a fancier kit if your going to be using it all the time though. But theres no point in spending a fortune, if like me you'll only use it a few times.

If you can afford to spend the cash I'd buy this one too

Why anyone wouldn't go braided if there was need to make lines is beyond me.

Most of us dont know how to make the ends up for braided lines, if we were to get a local Pirtek or similar to make them up it cost more than you would ever spend on copper line, ends and flare tool.

I got a braided front line made up for my CR125, it cost me £60! Bloody rip off IMO

I got this one http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/tools/car-service-tools/brake-service-tools/brake-system-tools/?SEAAK5063&0&t5_390 (didn't pay this much though) it can be used with lines on the car if you need to remake a flare on a damaged end etc. First time I've done lines and didn't need to re-do any :)

Agree with Bazil about braided lines, I think I spent less than £40 on the tool and kunifer to re-do the lines.

Phazer I can get that one for £30 so I might just go for that, is it easy to use. I'll be making a full set for my transit then maybe the odd line here and there for friends

I thought so, first time I've done it so nothing to compare with. I guess doing them all in a one shot and 3 years on all being fine I can be happy with that.

Look up how easy it is to make a braided line yourself. Although all the fittings etc aren't that cheap

Making them up isn't too difficult if you're willing to lookup a guide somewhere. People do exist that just buy little bits & have a go themselves.

I just figured not having to buy a special tool to create them and they shouldn't ever need replacing due to corrosion could be the way forward.
